Zinc Coat & Urethane Fuel Tanks

Client: Fuelchief Tanks Ltd, Bromley Christchurch

Scope of Work

This Australasian wide fuel storage and management company needed a local blasting & coating service to line and protect several commercial fuel storage tanks.

In particular, two cubed containers and a cylindrical storage tank. Bare steeled and in need of blasting, priming and zinc coating before being put into service.

Actions

Hendriks Blasting collected the tanks from the client, returned them to their Link Road blasting booths and set about:

  • Undertaking a thorough abrasive blasting to SA (sand grade) of 2.5 to ensure the surface is ready for coating.
  • Applying  Carbozinc 859 EZ2, a zinc-rich epoxy primer @ 75 DFT
  • Applying a Carboguard 636, a multi-purpose high-brand epoxy @ 200 DFT
  • A finishing coat of Carboline E-Line®️ Polyurethane @50 DFT

When completed, the tanks were easily delivered back to Fuelchief Ltd, on Hendriks own in-house transporter.

The Result

Satisfied customer, safe in the knowledge they have a product which is guaranteed to last. A functional, corrosion-proof fuel tank with a 25-year product guarantee.

Fuelchief NZ operations manager Kurt Hansen said they have a long-standing partnership with Hendriks and can rely on John and the team to show true workmanship on every tank they paint.
